Hydrogen and Fuel Cells: CertifHy Project Launch Conference 2015 (23 April 2015) now open for registrations (25.03.2015)

A consortium of four European expert organizations (Hinicio, ECN, TÜV SÜD and LBST) have joined forces in the project CertifHy to develop an ambitious and innovative framework for the generation of guarantees of origin (GoO) for green hydrogen to be implemented in Europe.

CertifHy, funded by the European Commission through the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, kicked off late 2014 and will present its first findings at the Certifhy Project Launch conference on 23 April in Brussels.

Participants will be introduced to a market outlook for green hydrogen, and will be provided with an overview of existing initiatives and policy instruments to set up Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) systems for green electricity and green gas.

Please send your registration to certifhy@hinicio.com before 10 April with subject line ‘Launch Conference-registration’. The CertifHy team is looking forward to welcoming you.

You can download the agenda here or go to www.certifhy.eu. Alternatively, contact Daniel Fraile at Hinicio certifhy@hinicio.com or +32 22 11 33 79.

Background information about green hydrogen
The EU and its member states are currently pursuing a transition towards a low carbon future, with ambitions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 to 95 per cent by 2050 compared to 1990 levels. Hydrogen is expected to play a key role in this transition, especially in the transport sector. Similar to bio-methane and electricity from renewable energy sources, a guarantees of origin (GoO) scheme can accelerate cost-effective development and commercialisation of green H2. It will allow producers to prove the source of its hydrogen production in a transparent, reliable and effective way, and it is an important tool to monetize the green value of hydrogen, leading to further investment on renewable energy.
