Goal
As part of the EC funded CUTE-project the station supplied 3 buses with hydrogen.
Description
The bp CUTE installation in Porto was part of a site that is used to park, maintain and refuel the buses operated by STCP working in Porto's metropolitan area. Hydrogen was generated with an on-site steam reformer based on natural gas. The compressor station was designed to produce the high pressure GH2 quantities needed for 3 buses, along with backup high pressure storage, in order not to compromise the filling times specifications, with back-to-back filling operations. Components: Steam reformer, Compressor High pressure storage (backup), Dispenser

Comments

The demonstration of the FC buses in Porto taked place under extreme geographical conditions. The operation on hilly topography and in hot climate allowed the project to exploit the infuence of extreme operating conditions. The buses operated on a circular line crossing the city center and with high throughput of passengers.
