In March 2004 Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies announced the plan to build a fleet of 30 Toyota Prius Hybrid Electric Vehicles with hydrogen propulsion system. The project is supported by the California South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) with $2.3 million; additional co-funding by the Department of Defense National Automotive Center (DoD-NAC).The number of hydrogen vehicles could be increased to 35 with a total contract value of $2.5 million. |
