USA: Possible budget cuts in hydrogen and fuel cell funding (08.02.2010)
DOE tables proposal – Part of an overall revision of US spending
HyWeb, 2010-02-08: DOE rolled out proposed budget cuts, among others in the field of research, development and demonstration of hydrogen and fuel cell technology. The cuts have to be seen as a move to consolidate US budgets in the light of economic developments in the US and worldwide.
Among other topics, it is proposed to reduce funding for PEM-based hydrogen and fuel cell programs in Fiscal Year 2011. The proposed budget is US$ 137 million (a reduction of US$ 37 million), and does not foresee any money for new vehicle deployment under the Technology Validation program. SECA (coal-to-hydrogen) program funding was proposed at US$ 50 million, a reduction of US$ 4 million from 2010.
