The resolution of an EU Emission
Trading scheme was passed! When implementing the emission trading
scheme a lot of operators of industrial facilities will receive
a cap for their CO2 emissions. Either they can show compliance
of their emissions or they will have to expand their contingency
by buying further emission allowances.
This scheme is an essential part of EU climate policy and sets
limits for the overall industrial emissions of each Member State.
The share of the industry to reach the targets set by the Kyoto
Protocol is safeguarded that way.

Installations that will have to participate in the scheme will probably
have to submit an inventory by the end of year 2003 or at the beginning
of 2004.
Furthermore utility owner will have to check following issues:
- What is the potential of reduction for my asset?
- Can I undertake activities at other locations?
- Can I make use of emission reductions earned in climate change projects?

TÜV SÜD does not offer any climate change services other than the validation, verification and certification services as offered by the departement Carbon Management Service.
