Located at the Palaski Bus Garage in Chicago the fueling station consisted of two major systems: - Hydrogen receiving and long-term storage system: to receive and store LH2, vaporize LH2 to CGH2 and compress and store compressed H2 for fueling operations - Hydrogen transfer system: for fueling the buses for revenue operation LH2: 34,000 l @ 1 Mpa CGH2: 420 Nm3 @ 31 MPa Liquide Hydrogen Tank HP Storage Dispenser Liquid hydrogen from natural gas was supplied by Air Products

The refueling station was part of the Xcellsis/ Ballard Phase 3 Program, which took place in two communities, in Chicago, Illinois and British Columbia.The project was successfully concluded on March 23, 2000. The three buses accumulated more than 5,000 hours in revenue service, covered over 30,000 miles, carried more than 100,000 passengers. DoE and FTA will fund a new FC bus project. Start is planned for the third quarter of 2012. Delay to 2013
