What does pressure equipment mean?


The term pressure equipment stands for a number of products with an inner pressure higher than 0,5 bar. Production and running of pressure equipment are regulated by law. Types of pressure equipment

Unfired pressure vessels means any closed vessel to contain compressed gases and liquids.

Steam heated pressure vessels means airtight and heated vessels or pressure pipe systems for generating water vapour or hot water.

Piping means pipe components intended for the transport of gases or liquids (fluids) which may be connected together for the purpose of integration in a pressure system.

Pressure accessories means devices with an operational function and having an identifiable pressure-bearing housing. They can be welded, soldered and bolted to other pressure equipment. Examples of pressure accessories include valves and housings of measuring devices.

Safety accessories means devices designed to protect pressure equipment against the allowable limits being exceeded. Safety valves are a classic example.

Unlike the 2014 Pressure Equipment Directive, the 2010/35/EU Pressure Equipment Directive addresses transportable pressure equipment. Transportable pressure equipment includes, but is not limited to, cylinders, large cylinders but also tanks of road or rail tankers.
